Getting the most from your appointment
We understand it can be hard for people with disabilities to get help with their health needs. So, you can ask for reasonable adjustments to make it easier for you.
Examples include
- Booking a double appointment so you have enough time to talk about your concerns
- Use pictures, large print or simpler words to understand what is happening.
- Bring a carer or a friend to your appointment
- putting an appointment at the beginning or end of the day, if you find it hard to be in a busy waiting room
- Sometimes its good to keep a list of the things that are worrying you about your health and the doctor can go through this with you.
